Finally, Brighton band Tribe of Ghosts debut album CITY is out. It's been a long time coming but the album launch gig last week was outstanding and the ablum is a stunner, best of the year so far for me I think.
Been on several times this afternoon.
Didn't know whether to post this in this or the iPlayer thread, but there's a couple of songs there under the Jools/Later category -- including Caroline which is just majestic. There's a Nubya Garcia track on there too.Been on several times this afternoon.
One or two of the songs are a touch too gushy for me but the overall product is up to her usual high standards.
I love her voice, and some nice plucking.
I hadn’t got round to listening to The Cure’s new album until today - I wanted to give it my undivided attention.
I have played it through five times so far - it’s magnificent, isn’t it? Incredible that they can produce this level over 40 years after they started, and they were brilliant then.
Meanwhile, Primal Scream also released a new album this week. I have always been a fan, and stuck up for them when many were criticising their output.
But this…is awful. No tunes, Bobby’s voice has deteriorated, no…oomph. A huge disappointment.

I have playing the album daily. Magnificent, incredible and extraordinary are perfect terms to describe it. It works as an album, from Alone right through to EndSong. The opening instrumental part of EndSong is so clever, it gives the listener time and space to reflect on what’s gone before. I looked up the lyrics to And Nothing Lasts Forever and had tears in my eyes.Never been over-enamoured with PS, and won't be listening to their new album. Have been listening to The Cure and particularly SfaLW after not doing so much for several decades. It is an extraordinary achievement. Still think EndSong is the best track, but WarSong is creeping up on me too.
It's also made me listen to my back catalogue of the Cure - much of it on vinyl, which I've not listened to for quite a few years; simply reminded me of how good they were/are.I have playing the album daily. i also listened to Primal Scream and was excited when I heard he’d worked with David Holmes, a DJ and producer I remember and love from way back. It’s quite flat.

It's really great that this has felt like a proper old-fashioned 'event' - like album releases used to be.
Yes. I hadn’t thought of this but you’re so right, it was an event. It's also made me listen to my back catalogue of the Cure - much of it on vinyl, which I've not listened to for quite a few years; simply reminded me of how good they were/are.

After 16 years and being teased for the last 18 months it bloody well needed to be an event.Yes. I hadn’t thought of this but you’re so right, it was an event.
It’s a great album. I’ve seen them three times this year - brilliant, catch them if you can.My mid life crisis goes on so blasting out at full volume in the house is
Fine Art by Kneecap.
Rap, hip hop whatever but in the Irish language, very political, anti English, obsessed with drugs and other self abuse, probably more suited for someone 40 years younger but I’m enjoying them immensely.
