This is a pretty de facto list; I’d prob only add Honeyglaze, Big Special and Vampire Weekend.

Sounds like half the forum will be at MJ Lenderman on 30th May. I’m astonished it isn’t sold out yet.
With a quiet Sunday evening I think I’ve managed to rank them all more specifically, and add some more having a real think about it.

Give a listen to Bilmuri - American Motor Sports.

I wonder what you'll think of Post Yardcore/Y'allternative

Not much to add in terms of albums of the year.

It's probably Beth Gibbons at #1

The Cure album being as good as it is has made me tingle.

Tindersticks had a better than average Tindersticks album i.e. a magnificent album by anyone's standards.

Chystabell & David Lynch is wonderful.

Loved the King Hannah album.

...and Chuck Prophet released an absolute belter that no one much will ever hear.

..... Ooh

And Linda Thompson, ''Proxy Music"

Which has an album cover nearly as good as the Beak> album. Which is another cracker.

Not an album, but a mate’s niece’s band. Catchy and fun. Thought I’d try and spread the word.

Cure songs of a lost world is the best album of 2024 anything else does not compare to this masterpiece

A really enjoyable watch. Me and Mrs PWK liked it and we’re both late 50s
I'm strugging to get the image of Jessica Reynolds 'No Surrender' and Red Hand tramp stamp out of my mind's eye this morning :lolol:

Not an album but here's a single by a bloke who used to be in a Bowie goth tribute band and a bloke who was a cloakroom attendant at The Blitz club...and guess what, it sounds like Bowie...

Interesting that The Smile released two albums this year, neither of which featured in these AotY lists. I think this is acknowledgment that they're just not as good as Radiohead, without actually saying as much.
