Oh a few posters have still managed to sling in some digs at our #1 Potter fan. Borderline bullying with a whiff of racism thrown in at times. It was "justified" as the main pile on was for an American who rudely, and without evidence, called another poster a liar and refused to apologise afterwards. Both foreign and sometimes annoying so it was fine.
Point of order, even if that were true it wouldn’t be “racism”. Xenophobia at worst. Which it wasn’t.

These days it is common usage to include nationality when defining racism. And yeah when you bring someone's nationality into something unnecessarily it starts to sound racist to me.

Nope, it was an entirely appropriate comparison. Both people have called others liars for sharing mundane ITK stuff, due to their lack of understanding of cultural norms in this country, such as going to the pub after a long shift, or seeing footballers doing their shopping in Tesco or taking their dogs for a walk.

If anything they are the racists and xenophobes.

Presumably you’ll be apologising for calling someone a liar now Fabian Hurzeler himself has just said exactly the same thing about Welbeck losing feeling in his legs?

Or will you just dig a deeper hole?
Huh? Why? The story is still highly unlikely.

The UK is not a big place, Brighton is a small place.

Off the top of my head I know that Casper Ankergren (our old goalie) used to smoke whilst he was playing for us, as I used to see him having a cheeky cigarette around the corner as our kids went to the same school. No one cared then, not many people knew who he was, as we weren't in the PL.

Glenn Murray used to walk his dog in the same park I walked mine in, due to my complete lack of coordination when throwing a tennis ball, I wasn't going to throw it in his direction to 'make conversation' because I probably would've accidentally hit him in the face. When the Amex first opened & they were training at Falmer I'd often see players running in Stanmer Woods (not the popular part).

Bruno occasionally popped into a pub I drink in. My FIL has had a couple of chats with Billy Gilmour in a social setting before he left last year. Spoke to him as a 'person' not a footballer, all equal, no one cared what he did for a living.
Things maybe changing slightly as we're now a PL club & the players are more recognisable 'out of context' but there are loads of people on here that have seen Potter jogging along the prom. I know @Han Solo struggles with the fact that Sussex is actually a small place & word gets round if players are seen in nightclubs, or one of our players watch a Burgess Hill match. They don't get mobbed at the moment, as we're far to 'cosmopolitan' down here to make a big deal of it. They used to even go shopping in Tesco themselves! 3 years ago Jnr's friend got a selfie with a young player in JD Sports, I will be forever baffled as to why the player was in JD Sports but I saw the pic & it was definitely him.

I think most of us seeing a player in Tesco, would nudge them out of the way if they were going to attempt to take the last ripe avocado or packet of muesli. I'd get their autograph at the Amex, but when they're out & about I wouldn't ask. I would have a hissy fit if they did try & take the last ripe avocado at Tesco, tell them to f**k off to M&S & have a rant on here about it though. ;)
I bumped into a senior player during the Withdean years on a Friday at 1am during a lock in in town

I then the next day after the game, saw him in the players lounge (that weird place that was a nursery during the week). Anyway a barman tapped me on the shoulder, handed me a beer and pointed in the player's direction. He playfully out his fingers to his lips and laughed.

I lifted my beer in acknowledgement

I've just read through all the posts from yesterday and I have to admit I still have absolutely no idea what is going on.

All I can do is issue a heartfelt "well played" to all involved.
I really think you should provide thread summaries so we can join the binfest a later and still understand what is going on. 😂

This. The thread reads like online bullying to me. Surely we want NSC to be welcoming to new posters or those who don't post as often, particularly people who live in other countries and have recently started following the Albion with us being in the PL. That means cutting them some slack if they don't understand "British culture". 10 or 15 years ago we'd have been amazed that people in the States or other countries were taking an interest in the Albion. Now we're mocking them for using the word soccer.

Yes American Seagle has probably got it wrong saying the paramedic story didn't happen. But they are correct that the paramedic should not have told members of the public about them treating Welbeck, and the only appropriate response to anyone asking them if he was ok, or even just asking if they'd treated him would be to say something like "Sorry I can't comment".

Hoped on this thread to find out if Danny had recovered from his injury and is available for selection.
Cannot make sense of last 3 pages.
Is Danny fit?
Last 3 pages? I think it’s about 18 pages since anyone actually talked about whether he’ll be fit for today or not.

He is in this weeks training video, though doesn't feature much. Make of that what you will.

Do people not realise the English were the first to call it soccer? Soccer For AsSOCiation football and Rugger for RUGby football. Brits stopped using it once Americans started.

Mods should rename the thread

‘A meandering thread of nonsensical waffle’

TNBA

TTF
I simply don't have the time to do that to the c75% of threads on here that would require the same.

My guess is that Danny makes the bench today. If the game is tight, he'll get on towards the end
