Don't get me wrong, this is purely an aesthetic issue.
Which as I'm "watching" via the text commentary while at work, doesn't even effect me.

Sad to see how empty the stadium is. Doesn't feel great for the future of test cricket.
Is there any point when the ball is struggling to get over ankle height in the first session on the first day of a Test match?
Until Pakistan are able to produce proper Test pitches the ICC should be banning them from hosting Test matches.
Another poor umpiring decision - he hit that!

I think the errors have been in the field.
I gather Jordan Cox is lined up to take the gloves for the New Zealand series, as Smith will be at home on paternity leave.
Might be different if we had Wood available or somebody of that ilk who offers something particularly different, but I'm not sure a few overs of 80ish mph seam bowling would achieve much in this situation.
I don't think Pakistan bowled a single over with a seamer did they?
