The world is a load of commercialised bollocks. At least Halloween is a bit of fun.
Is it for who the kids ?
As a parent I hated walking around with my daughter, it felt like begging for treats they do not need and are not good for them.
The outfits are costly and shite, this country is not on the same level as America, at least the owners of many houses there, decorate and even play pranks on kids, parents here would complain if a man stepped out from the garage with a chainsaw , or threw water on them from the upstairs window, you cannot compare the two and for that reason it is commercialised bollocks and not fun over here, it is all about money.

Call me a grinch, but I don't care, I will happily wear that hat.

I was walking the dog in Findon valley on Saturday and noticed that someone had got their Christmas tree and a few other decorations up already. I know the shops are selling Christmas produce, so maybe it's fair that some people may get caught up in the hype.

Ours go up on 1st October, only 10 days until the big day now.

That is ridiculous. Still well over two months away. Then they probably take them down when Boxing Day is over. o_O

Agreed, absolute nonsense to put Xmas decs up before Halloween.

Andy Golstein.

I thought only Americans bothered with this ridiculous rip off.

Halloween festivities are alive and kicking here in Lyme, it does come earlier every year and I can't agree with those who put their decorations up in September but October is a spooktacular month.

By the way have you been to the Sporting Clive bar in Valletta yet??

The good news is that Labour are looking to ban or heavily restrict the sale of sweet treats specifically for Halloween and are looking for healthier options such as fruit to give to children to put in their 'trick or treat' bags.

That is one way of stopping this tedious tradition, can't see kids dressing up and begging for apples or a fkn satsuma.

Well done labour, very clever.

There seems to be a few people gone early round here, full on house and garden decorated (from this weekend!). I guess folk with young kids?

I'm gonna be in the States for Halloween this year, although I doubt anyone will be Trick or Treat'ing the hotel.

I don't understand how "trick or treat" turned into "just give us some sweets"

The only time I've ever entered into the Halloween spirit was when I was obliged to accompany a 8yo MissBC 'trick or treating' around the mean streets of Fiveways. Rather than being very grumpy and spoiling it for her, I dressed up as Stupid Death from Horrible Histories, learnt the song and performed it at every house we visited. Needless to say, we got loads of sweets, almost all of which we hid from our daughter, for her own good.

I have not found it. Think it closed down. When were you there?

It was before covid, it was absolutely humming in there. Great bar, paying homage to all the great Clives who have contributed to sport around the world.
