Yeah I was just thinking that. A mansion in Surrey or Hants/Sussex would be the thing rather than crawling through the London traffic in your Ferrari twice a day.

The thing is, this is as good as it gets for KDH's Chelsea career. If he's not getting minutes under Maresca, he's not likely to get any from whoever next year's Chelsea manager turns out to be.

I was going to suggest we might pick him up on the cheap next year, but with most players, once they've spent time at Chels their salary expectations will have been pushed beyond us, plus, obviously, O'Riley will be setting the world alight for us by then.

There's no way I would live in London if I played for Chelsea. Schlepping it out to Cobham and back every day through stop-start traffic? Fack that.
My mate is a property developer out in Surrey and regularly deals with players from the club who want to move there, not London.
And he reckons KDH is SHITEHOUSE...

I still think he’s a decent player, and would be open to going in for him again if we lose a couple of players. Most young players would opt to go to Chelsea, especially under a coach you’d just won the Championship with, and who'd praised you to the heavens. And then shortly after you arrive at the club, they randomly import stars like Neto, Sancho, Felix etc, and you naturally fall down the pecking order. KDH is in Maresca's second team for the cup competitions — he’s played in the Euro Conference, Carabao and will presumably figure in the FA Cup. Whether that's high profile enough for him, who knows but I’d be surprised if Maresca would be keen to let him go.

I guess it will depend on who they bring in in the January transfer window - and we all know they WILL be buying more players, despite their huge squad.

This why would anyone "choose" to live in London.
I suspect you're right, although there seems to be an increasing number of players who play football because they're good at it, not because they love it.
Besides, objectively, he still likely thinks he has a better chance of winning something at Chelsea than here and his decision probably still looks like the ambitious choice
