I must be the only one to think that's still a pen. He wipes the player out and it's incidental that he touches the ball.
No, you’re not. Getting the ball does not excuse a foul. It was reckless imo.

Yeah I'm not convinced on that pen being overturned either. The only angle where you can make a case is the one directly behind the play, it looks a penalty from every other one IMO. But, as I usually caveat my posts with, I know nothing.

Ah, OK. I was watching on Sky, and would claim they created a very different impression. It explains my point of disagreement with @Triggaaar too -- apologies.

Totally agree that Sky failing to pick up on the fact it was disallowed during their in game coverage changes the narrative of what happened. Even in the post match analysis they didn't mention it, until right at the last moment when they were winding up coverage of the City game and switching focus on to Liverpool vs Chelsea, by then it was almost a throw away line.

No way, he’s a quality player and we wouldn’t think he was a twat if he played for us
We might not think he was a twat. But he still would be.

Although... maybe Veltman could take him under his wing and teach him the proper way to wind up your opponent?
