[Misc] Pro Plus (caffeine)

Saw these in Boots the other day so I decided to buy some (48 for £4.99). I took two earlier and I feel as bright as a button. Normally I'm dreadful in the mornings but I've got far more energy than usual. First saw them in Layer Cake (2004) when Daniel Craig (X as his name is never revealed) had just shot Jimmy Price for being undercover police. He crushed a couple and put them into a glass of whisky.

Are they good in the long-term? Are they habit-forming? I'd say they're a very light amphetamine but there's no real warnings on the packet and no leaflet. Surely they wouldn't be sold openly if they made you high and addicted?

I’d say judging by your positive response to how they make you feel then yes they are habbit forming.

I know somone who has somehow become addicted to Barocha ffs

Caffeine can be addictive so yes I would imagine that these could be too.

I used to work in theatre and events and often we'd have to work 48+ hours straight. The trick was to take 1 an hour, every hour through the night(s).
Kept me awake and full of energy. Absolutely screwed my stomach up and not a chance in hell I'd ever touch them again.

Given the active ingredient is caffeine (50mg per tablet), wouldn't it be more pleasurable to just have a cup of tea (ca. 50mg/cup) or coffee (ca. 100-200mg / mug)? You could even GO MAD and get a Rockstar/Monster - 160mg/can.

I find they work best when you wash them down with a Red Bull and then have a banana afterwards.

I keep some in my van, take some when I need a boost to get me through a hard day, usually after a few hard days in a row.
I don’t drink coffee and there isn’t always a nearby shop to buy energy drinks.
Definitely not addicted to Pro Plus though

Buying a coffee is quite a nice experience I find. It normally means a change of scenery, a short walk, and a nice drink at the end usually served by a fit European. What’s not to like?

Only used them once back in my 30's whilst on a mates stag week in Turkey. 4 nights on the lash till 3 in the morning was taking it's toll so I dropped a couple. Certainly, did the job but as with all such things there's the come down. You want to sleep but your brain is still buzzing and your eyelids felt like they were being propped open with cocktail sticks.

I guess they may have some better more sensible applications but not ever again for me Clive!

Strange you say that - I very occasionally use them on a long drive washed down with a bottle of full fat coke.

High blood pressure and irregular heart beat, add caffeine and boom....

That is why I stopped drinking copious amounts of coffee and taking drugs, that and I became a father and moved back down here.

Fair enough. Although moving down to the south coast won’t necessarily help you stop drinking coffee. Cheap coffee yes, coffee in general no

I bought some to help me get through the night drive back from Marseille to Geneva after the Europa League game.

I think I took a couple before the drive, which I was a bit worried about, and I didn't feel tired at any point in the journey.

I don't drink coffee - I simply don't like the taste - so I'm probably quite sensitive to a hit of caffeine.

Just go full Scandinavian and drink five or six cups of coffee per day.

Sometimes I take powernaps just because I want the morning coffee twice a day.
