This is really, really frustrating to watch because EVERYONE called it. It was so obvious, even from the outside. You can't live people's lives for them and he needs to learn this lesson for himself, but obviously the talent is there and there's still time for him to fulfil his potential and be a Premier League and Irish International striker.

Fair play to him for making a choice and getting help. Drink can turn good people in monsters, and Aaron definitely in his time here as a first team professional isn’t the person I’m sure he wants to be.

I think we all wish him luck, but it might take a bit more than just a month or two of re-hab and giving up alcohol, before people start believing he has "seen the errors of his ways".

Well look, he hasn’t killed anyone or anything, most of the harm he has done has been to himself. Being a bit of a prick who drinks too much, chooses partners badly, craves attention and acts like a tosser in nightclubs sums up half of West Street on a Saturday night.
The fact he’s a professional footballer makes him more of a target, because of issues of wealth and entitlement (as we’ve seen so often with celebrities) but looking optimistically from his point of view, he has realised it young (he’s only 24) and is taking accountability - something loads of people including celebrities and sportspeople will never do in their lifetimes.
Alcoholism is an addiction which has killed millions, and like he says himself, being poor or rich, famous or homeless it can hurt everyone.
Good luck to him and anyone else with addiction issues.
