I do appreciate the interest. It still drives me mad and I'm looking at pubs in the area like I've never looked before. I'm pretty sure it's the back of a hotel or golf club as has been mentioned previously. I guess it'll be one of those unsolved mysteries.

My sis in law was manager of Black Lion Patcham in the 70s. She says not the back of the pub/hotel.
