Your Favourite Things About Football?

NSC's Most Stalked
Was asked this by a girl at work, an interesting question I thought. So why not share it with the class?

Not necessarily the Albion, but football in general. Why you like, what makes it good for you!

For me

- Nut Megs
- Players going proper mental when they score a tap in or shit goal
- Goals that go cross bar and in
- Triple substitutions
- you can play a version of it on your own, with 2 people, with 22 people

I think you've just about said it all. I would also add:

One man pitch invasions
Jimmy Bullard
Ref getting hit by the ball
When a Newcastle player nearly knocked Titus Bramble out by whacking the ball into his face
Linesman falling over

For me its the atmosphere - can't be beat.

[edit] except at Withdean... roll on the Community Stadium

- Last minute equalizers/winners
- Getting excited the night before an away day
- Decent away followings, coupled with vocal home fans
- Shots that go miles over the bar greeted with that huge 'WAHEYYYYY'

Massive run ups for free kicks with a look of determination that either hit the wall or sail miles over the bar.

Mad warm ups by subs about to come on
The 3rd Round of the FA Cup
People who have left early rushing back when a goal has gone in
Programme sellers shouting "Programmes! Last Few!" An hour before kick off
The look on drivers faces who have to turn round at Mill Round that didn't know football is on

I went to a game last week and the referee got tackled after the ball rebounded off another player to his feet. Very funny.

The feel good factor, or as in supporting the Albion the feeling shit factor , the week after.
And the very occasional,:rave: the feeling really good factor.

Penalty takers that stub their toe causing the ball to roll to the keeper.
30 yard volley into the roof of the net.
Shots so wide of the mark they go for a throw in.
Man U losing.

In a pile of football shirts
When Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal and now of course Man City lose to Man Utd, it is so funny listening to their fans/managers/pundits etc justifying why their team should have won.

Oh, and my favourite thing about football relating to other teams; Any time Chelsea lose anything, free kicks, throw ins, matches, league titles, cups, anything, especially if they feel they have been hard done by.

Being able to stand in some football grounds (not in withdean of course ) Meadow Lane is one of these places (unofficially of course)

the feeling on a saturday morning/early afternoon, the buzz around the town (even if your team is shit)

chinwagging with opposition fans

WATCHING ALBION AWAY (although since wilkins departure i've lost the feel good feelin)

the camaraderie and how football can bring ppl together

the singing (lack of in withdeans case) on away days

the train up to where ever the match is

the championship/lge1/lge2/non-league/fa cup quals, R1, R2, R3/ lge cup/ jp trophy

getting lost in an alien town or getting lost trying to find the stadium

a place for the lads (mostly)

wearing your team colours with pride/or lack of

being (one of) the only person(s) with an albion shirt in Derby :lolol: and all the funny looks and pub chats that come with....

there's too much to mention really...
