My lady friend is coming over to mine for dinner tonight. I am cooking a selection of Chinese menus especially chosen from the food halls of Marks & Spencer, Holmbush Centre including sticky Chicken with a chilled chardonay.

My lady friend and I are going to watch a DVD and she has requested a thriller, whodunnit type film with a fair bit of action.

Now, she has seen Minority Report which I was going to show and I am tempted with A Simple Plan and Arlington Road, 2 very underated thrillers that I bet not many people on here have seen. I am trying to wrack my brains for other options so film buffs, your challenge today is to recommend a film for me with the above criteria.

I thank you for your assistance in anticipation.

US.

Er, i've seen those. Simple Plan is rated just as it should be. A competent little piece with quality performances.

It sounds like she wants The French Connection.

Ditchy - Anal Explorations 7 will not create the ambience I am looking for but thanks anyway.

Spy Game - Robert Redford and Brad Pitt. It's a couple of years old now but i thought it was a great, and relatively easy to follow, thriller.

Seen The Usual Supsects, can you believe she has not seen The Shawshank Redemption, that could be an option.

Also The Machinist is very good but quite sombre, it has lots of clues to the catestrophic event that took place during the film which unfolds at the end and a tour de force performance by Christian Bale.

Yeah you could bore her into bed with that. Be careful she doesn't try and tunnel her way out of your living room.

And if she does, try to work out how she hung the poster over the hole after she'd left. Cos its been bugging me for years.

Do you think she'll have a poster over her hole? Hopefully, she'll only need a second class stamp.

*imagine*

contraversial, but i quite enjoyed the mothman prophecies.

Easy - stick the top of the poster up, lift it out and climb under it into the hole. Use extra sticky stuff to attach the bottom gently to the wall, perhaps using an extra dab of sticky stuf to pull the poster back to the wall. Bosh!
