The world will largely come to a stop at 6pm this evening as Apple proudly show the world their new baby (even if that baby appears to be an iPhone 4S and not an iPhone 5).

How thoroughly exciting for us all.

Bozza, please ensure the board is duly shut down so we can all pay attention to this massive announcement. Many Thanks

I've been in a queue since 2pm yesterday. There aren't enough phones to meet demand, but the Apple staff here recon those of us in the front half of the queue will be fine. Fingers crossed.

Sent from my arse.

No problem - will do.

(In all seriousness - I do need to do some hosting jiggery-pokery which will cause NSC downtime - it would seem sensible to try and do that this evening)

Hmmm iPhone 4S rather than 5? Would be disappointed with that but hopefully the new iOS gets released today or tomorrow

Does that mean anyone that owns an iPhone 4 will be rendered "completely out of touch with technology" at 6.01pm?

Predictions:

- iPhone 4S (no iPhone 5 yet)
- Lots faster - borrowing the iPad 2 A5 chip
- More memory - 1gb from 512mb (they probably won't mention this though)
- Better camera - 8mp from 5mp
- Voice assistant thing - control many phone functions via voice.
- Lots more talk about iOS5 with launch date
- iPhone 4 to be new entry level phone (bye bye 3GS) with smaller 8gb capacity

So no improvement on the actual "phoning people" part?

Good point, in fact the phone part should be an optional app
Indeed. They should probably do away with the phone part, and maybe make it a little bigger. No point calling it an iPhone then, might as well change the name iScreen or something catchy.
