Worst Five Places You Have Visited

Following the best five tourist places, what are the worst five towns and cities you have visited:

Burnley,
Middlesborough,
Barnsley,
Nord de Calais,

And I have to say the biggest let down was Porto. The river stank with pollution, it was dilapidated, dirty, very bleak in places especially the shanty areas along the river, in the centre behind the Cathedral, addicts were openly injecting.

Yes it had plus points: pints of wine at 50p, port etc but so did every other Portuguese town.

Nooooooo! Can't have that. It's beautiful, man. The river didn't stink any more than, say, the Mersey, which is about the same width. The port and fish were superb, the people friendly, and place was one big party. Mind you, that was during the middle of Euro 2004.

:drink: :drink: :drink:

My five worst are

Whitehaven
Grange over Sands
Redcar
Ebbw Vale
Basingstoke
Milton Keynes

Yeah, I know that's six, but so what?

The free state of Kemp Town
I know we have reason to hate Croydon for its local club but even regardless of the scum the place is a proper shitpit.

Deeply soul destroying to have to spend time there.

and to the list I would have to add:

Weymouth
Dudley
Wigton, Cumbria
Piraeas (port of Athens)
and Reading (the only place I've ever been mugged, and twice)

Merthyr Tydfil
Pontypridd
Ebbw Vale
Port Talbot
And, er, Linz in Austria (got hopelessly lost in an industrial estate there once and have despised the place ever since).

Seaford
La Rochelle - though this is more to do with a crap holiday there than any intrinsic hatred of the place.
Boscastle (even before it got washed away) - horrible little tourist town full of commercial shite and small children
Manchester - probably being a bit harsh here. I actually found it strangely fascinating, but in a bleak, desolate, "what am I doing here freezing my nuts off with a frankly hideous woman" sort of way.
Bognor - say no more

And finally....
Haywards Heath - having spent most of my life there has done nothing whatsoever to convince me of its good qualities that the local council seem to come out with whenever it's criticised. Ghastly little town full of ghastly people (with some notable exceptions)
