Worst ever International Tournament?

USA 94 had some cracking moments - Romania knocking out the Argies, Effenberg being sent home for giving his own fans the finger, Maradona's mental antics, Letchkov's header against Germany, Jack Charlton and Aldridge turning the air blue.

People in England knock it because we weren't there and it was held in the US.

The worst tournaments? World Cups 1990 and 2010 and Euro 2004. Greece winning was not a fairytale - it was appalling.

USA 94 had other great moments too, it was too damn true a great tournament. So what if England were not there!?, we had Ireland to support instead and still remember Ray Houghton's chipped lob against Italy for their goal and famous win over Italy like it was yesterday. Then came John Aldridge calling an official in the Mexico game "You f*cking cheat!", which picked up on the mics for millions to hear, only to eventually be allowed on and pull a goal back with a brilliant header that eventually proved crucial on goal difference after drawing 0-0 with Norway.

Then Jack Charlton and John Aldridge got fined for their behaviour, with Big Jack being given a touchline ban. All he did was complain his players were not being supplied with enough water in that heat.

He later gave the money to Andres Escobar's family. His tragic death overshadows the great stuff that happened at that tournament.

Yordan Letckhov's diving header, Romania beating Argentina after Maradonna was found guilty of taking drugs (that goal celebration made it obvious he was!).
