But you aren't voting for people to sit in the House of Commons, the elections are for Europe and your local area...people who have influence in creating legislation that affects the whole continent, not just our little islands, and people who can influence whether your area is a pleasant place to live in...I reckon that is pretty damn important and certainly worth the 20 minutes of my time it will take to cycle to and from the polling station.

We should follow the Australian system where you have to vote by law. Best thing adout it is that you can vote for " non of the above. "

If we had this in this country at the moment, & recorded the numers who voted this way, it might make those thieving bastards in Westminster realise that we need to radically change the whole corrupt system.

Until this happens or I get a good independent anti sleaze candidate, I won't be wasting my valuable time.

And don't start me on the MEP elections.

Rant over !

If you want an option in South East for the Euro election, there's always Dave Hilll and his NO2EU-YestoDemocracy party.

For those with long memories, he was a former Parliamentary candidate for Brighton Pavilion - against Julian Amery and a long-standing councillor. He used to be considered on the right of the Labour party and is now seen as well on the left, a sign of how much Labour has changed.

Anyway, a good option for those who are against the EU and don't fancy the dodgy spivs who make up UKIP.

I shall vote.

I always vote.

I never vote Tory,or for any Tory-like or right of Tory parties.

In General Elections, local elections and such I vote for the party most likely to keep the Tories out in that election.

I hoped never to see the day dawn when people would forget what the Tory Party had done to this country and put them back in power, but it seems it could happen.

Still,if one comes to my door soliciting my vote,I get the pleasure of telling it to walk south til it's hat floats.

I was going to copy that and insert Labour where there was Tory. Saved me the bother.

Unfortunately any Government is not usually voted into Westminster by people with strong Labour or Conservative convictions, but by the minority that vote with who has the nicest smile, speaks the words they want to hear at the time etc.

I Feel the same about all political parties, they all rave how they are so much better than other parties but when it comes down to it they are all liars and just want they're noses in the trough.

I usually vote Labour, but I'm pissed off with them at the moment although if there was a general election, I'd vote to keep Celia Barlow in as she's an excellent MP.

I'd never vote Tory as they're more slimy that the current government and can't be trusted with a china shop, let alone the country and they're already once again ruining Brighton & Hove after being the controlling party on the council for the last couple of years. Plus it was them who ruined the Albion in the 90's by letting Archer, Stanley & Bellotti get away with selling the Goldstone by giving planning permission for the retail park to be built.

I'd never vote Lib Dem after what happened with Bellotti & Baker.

The Greens are just a pain in the arse who don't have a serious policy.

UKIP are the Tories from 15 years ago.

The BNP are w*nkers.

So my vote is going to the English Democrats!!!

I'd say to anyone who is thinking they don't want to vote because they can't be arsed to NOT waste your vote...Even if you don't agree with my views and you vote for the BNP or the Communist Party you should never forget that you can still vote and you're free to do so...there are people around the world who will never get the right to vote in a democracy so don't waste your right.

If you want to protest about the expenses fiasco, then vote for a non-mainstream party as I'm going to do...You never know, you may find that others agree with you and the top three parties may get the shock that they need.
Yup, pretty much agree with all of that. I too will probably be voting for the English Democrats, especially if there isn't a Socialist Labour candidate. I want a decent, Euro-sceptic candidate who isn't a right-wing loony.

Will vote Greens, tho I would never do so in a General election.

Was going to withhold my vote as a protest against the expenses scam, but then got to thinking that the more votes the Greens get, the more it will dilute the effect of any votes the BNP get. So worth voting for that reason alone IMHO.

Precisely, the irony of voting for BNP/UKIP for the Euro elections is that you would be sending people out to Brussels who are largely Xenophobic or want to pretty much destroy the Parliament and return us to being a country on the outside looking in...hardly a wise thing to do is it!

I dread the thought of the BNP having an influence on my local council, we are a multi-ethnic city with an Asian MP, all of us seem to live fairly happily together...nothing like upsetting the equilibrium!

then tell me who i should vote for as it seems your telling me i should vote.

What im saying is if these goings on where common knowledge throughout the whole system of british parliment whom can i put my trust in.

as stated due to the thread starters question no i wont, does that make it easier rather than me actually giving my point of view why i wont

Tay, with the internet the way it is now, it's easier than it's ever been to get an understanding of each political party.

Why don't you do as I did when I realised I wasn't going to vote for the mainstream parties and thats by finding out what parties are standing in your constituency and then check out their policies....I know it's hardly bedtime reading, but I looked at a majority of the parties websites who are standing and made my choice on the policies of those who I most believed in...However, even if you voted Monster Raving Looney Party then you've used your right to vote and you can be proud that your vote has been used.

They are the Roman Party. Ave! seem to be a bit of an enigma

From what I can gather is that they want a return of power to Rome and to reclaim what was the Roman Empire and it's laws along with the Roman Emporer...I'm voting for them:clap2::bowdown:

According to a blog written by a Green Party member in Reading ...

The Roman party Ave have no website, and just one candidate. Jean Louis Pascual, a bus driver in Reading who stands every election, no one can quite figure out why. He gets around 20 votes in council elections, and thinks that people should 'When in Rome Do as the Romans do'.

My theory is that the bloke's employer gives him time off from work when he's standing for public office.

I shall be voting, I always vote. What is the point of democracy if you do not exercise your right to vote. If you do not want to vote for anyone on the ballot then actively spoil your ballot, and register your disillusionment.
