I think Gus would at least finish the season here, to show what he can do. You could argue it is easier to get a team to the top of the division, but to keep your team top is a different challenge.

I think Gus will stay here. Why go back to being a number 2?

I'd imagine he was there as a segway between the new management & his coaching staff.
Now Ancelotti has his feet firmly under the table & the players onside he'll want to bring in some new faces.

Hope I am wrong but it would be a big draw for him, particularly if as expected he's offered the opportunity to get the top job when Ancelotti moves upstairs in two years time.
