Boring techy question because NSC knows everything: which anti-virus software would you recommend? Nothing fancy and not much other than the usual domestic use etc. Ta.

AVG if you're looking for a top-notch free one, or Norton if you want to pay.

you might be better doing a good old google search for viruses you know.

but i use avira on both mine, best one i've ever used in regards to detection, system impact, updates etc. also free, and the pro version is quite cheap too shoud you wish to pay for the extra's.

Don't pay for Norton - heap of shite.

I got Norton as part of the package when I got my laptop, and I've had no virus-related problems at all. Given how well it's worked for me, I'd have had no problem paying for it.

Its not its virus abilities that are the problem; its its reliability, ability to totally f*** a system, virtual uninstallability, etc. Heap of poorly coded shit.

Paid for Norton however when ran out used Avira which is free and just as good.

AVG if good but when I upgraded to the paid for version the anti spam software didn't work very well and let lots of stuff through - couldn't seem to divert it to "junk" properly.

Now using Bullguard - like it and also the online backup storage that comes with it. However a month or so back my Laptop threw a major wobbly and refused to speak the worldwide interweb. A techy expert I know spent a lot of time sorting it out, uninstalled Bullguard and it seemed to work again. Have subsequently reinstalled Bullguard and all seems to be well (breaks off to tap nearby piece of wood).

Computers - love 'em, loath 'em, you just can't live without 'em.

MYOB speaks the truth, however, I use Microsoft OneCare which is also very good, and reasonably priced too

Free AVG misses a lot of viruses, and is prone to slow your machine down, as is Norton & McAfeee virus software!

NOD32 runs sweetly in the background and doesn't slow down your machine at all and is updated several times a day, plus is cheaper than most to buy!

When I moved to this, it found several viruses that other products had missed.
