All excellent films I remember watching in my childhood.( Today I met an old lady who was an extra on the film Whisky Galore as she was born and brought up on the Isle of Barra where the Whisky Galore story actually happened and where they set the film using local families from the Island. She said that even until recently occasional bottles of scotch are still being washed up on the shore!!)

Starts and ends with colour, but a good bulk is black and white, and a quality film (if not a little bit of a chickflick).

I was just thinking about that one.
Brilliant use of the mediums to tell a story of meaning.
