Would Pleasantville count?

Starts and ends with colour, but a good bulk is black and white, and a quality film (if not a little bit of a chickflick).

I watched, for the first time in a while, The Hill on TCM last night.

Absolutely superb film set in a British Army prison in North Africa. Excellent performances from Sean Connery, Harry Andrews, Ian Holm, Ian Bannen and Sir Michael Redgrave, with a brutally sadistic plot, leaving you rooted for the inmates.

What about yous lot?

I saw the Hill for the first time many years ago, late at night, knowing nothing about it. It made a real impression on me. Harry Andrews is perfectly cast. The sound and the long single shot scenes were ingrained on my mind forever more.

Considering the cast it is surprising so few people are aware of it.

I saw "A Touch of Evil" recently, with Orson Welles and Charlton Heston. Another great fB&W film.
