I first heard this country rock band long before the Eagles and it’s a shame they never really made it. Losing Randy Meisner and Timothy B Schmidt to the Eagles(who formed three years later) must have been an arrow in the heart to a band who basically invented the genre.

I hate that I discovered Turnpike Troubadours after they broke up. Might be one of my favorite songs in a while.

My next two are if you like or are interested in some real Appalachian soul Americana music. Both Tyler Childers and Jason Isbell are big in the right circles. Jason Isbell is a former member of Drive by Truckers and wrote a bunch of their tunes, saw him at House of Blues in Vegas a few years ago and was blown away.

He’s also a big lefty with a conservative fan base, which gives a sort of tension to his stuff which is fun.
