Going on from the other thread concerning SB005 is getting his first insurance premium sorted, what was your first car and when was it?

Mine was a 1974 white Triumph Toledo 1300 CPM 108K. 4 speed gearbox and manual choke (bet a lot of people don't know what that is!!) Cost in 1981 £380. Sold it to a friend and she then sold it someone else who wrote it off. It was then cubed!!!!

Not the fastes thing on the road but not the slowest and in them days it had walnut dashboard, very nice.

Green Sunbeam Stiletto (sort of soupped-up Hillman Imp); written off in an IRA bomb explosion near Sloane Square in January 1974. Quite annoying!

Bike. J reg Kawasaki AR50, it had an AR80 exhaust meaning it could reach the breakneck speed of 44 mph!

Car. K reg Vauxhall Nova luxe 1.2i, terrible car but had comfortable seats, central locking and electric windows. I was pretty ashamed of the thing but for some reason it attracted alot of attention from 15 year olds on the rare occasion I went to Halfords.

1980 Ford Escort MkII, 1300L...FPN 739V...bought it from some bloke in Horsham for £750. I moved to the seaside not long after buying the car, I really enjoyed the salty sea air, unfortunately the car didn't and rusted away merrily.

I sold it just over two years later for £650 to a kid who not only didn't take it for a test drive but didn't even look under the bonnet...pillock!

Vauxhall Viva estate bought for £280. It flew through the MOT 11 months later and I sold it for £300.

What about your worst car?

Mine was a beige Ford Orion that quickly showed the rust (it must have gone for swim in Shoreham Harbour) and then had the engine wrecked by Halfords who had it to convert to run on unleaded. It then got wrote off in a prang when some pratt jumped the lights and a week later I was told that the bloke had sold it me had not kept up the payments and they wanted it back!

Luckily they were happy to let me keep it and I won the money off him through court.

My first car was an M-Reg. 850cc mini, absoluetly brilliant if a tad slow.
At the time I also had a Suzuki GS-1000 bike which of course had a bigger engine than my car!

I bought exactly the same type of car in 1987 - N plate though. Mine was white; how about yours?

Loved that car, 85mph top whack but rear wheel drive so drove like a real car should.

Got my first car about 5 years now courtesy of my parents, it was a yellow fiat cinquecento sport. Yes its true (how embarressing)

And then the imbetweeners featured that as a story line on the show after i'd sold it.
