At Meadow Lane, for an old First Division clash, think it was the game Foster got booked in that saw him miss the cup final. Who would have thought, when I settled down to watch the cup finalists in top flight action that I would be opening the door to 25 years of more or less constant football related disappointment and under achievement.

I was expecting the choices to be which stand/terrace at the Goldstone.

East Terrace Centre, right at the very front, on top of a wooden stool, so that my head was about the players' ankle level.

I remember John Gregory spat near me, just as he was taking a throw in.

Goldstone.

Us 2 - 0 Cambridge. I sat in the south stand, probably about 1992.

North west corner.

My Dad, in the mid-late 1970s, was a self-employed carpenter. He seemed to spend most Saturday mornings in timber yards and specialist wood tool depots, some of which were near The Goldstone. Each time I would jump in the car and go with him, and each time I'd come back crushed because I hoped we'd be going to the game.

Then one Saturday, he parked the car in the Newtown Road area as per normal, and wandering past The Goldstone, just stopped and said 'Those wood places are closed today - fancy seeing the game instead?'

:yahoo:

Couldn't see a bloody thing though. All I remember was a 1-0 win over Oldham, with Peter Ward claiming the goal, though it later being debited as an own goal. Oh, and Gary Williams receiving everyone's applause when he came over to take a corner.

Goldstone, natch. Against Liverpool in 1980, with my Dad. Sadly the only time I've ever been to a game with him, actually.

Think this poll might end up a bit one-sided!

You could have had Wembley or Cardiff as options - might be a few for whom that was their first Albion game. And their last...:D

Way out west
Goldstone, for the 3-0 cup defeat against Oxford Utd, stood in front of the Lego stand.

is there anyone posting on here, other than Nibble, who has never been to an Albion match?
