It does interest me somewhat as to whether white Americans think of him as black or of mixed race. Bearing in mind that many polls taken indicated that George Bush had become one of the most disliked presidents in American history and that the USA was moving into a economic downwood spiral - maybe as catostrophic as the great depression - and that the Republicans popularity had dropped like a stone, they still only narrowly elected him in.(forgot the Palin factor )
I was expecting a labour style 1992 landslide but that never really happened.
I still think white America had their reservations about the man based on his colour but luckily for him he managed to swing the hispanic vote in those key states.
