What is Sussex famous for?

I was conceived and born in Brighton Sussex England, I think that is famous enough.

The song was written in 1907 so the references to 'hearts being gay' is not in contradiction to the regular mention of ladies...

So it appears that these young ladies were Sussex greatest asset in 1907...
