Multiculturalism is failing and perhaps it never really succeeded. I live in South London near Brixton ( lived in Brixton for nearly ten years) which is often held up as the great beacon of multiculturalism. Yet go out and about there and what do you find? Most bars are either populated by white or black people, very few are really racially mixed. Some are but very few. I think what we actually have is MONO-CULTURALISM - where different races, for all intents and purposes, live largely separate lives even though they share the same space.

I genuinely prefer the American model where anyone and everyone is welcome into the US, but they are expected to pledge their loyalty and allegiance to that country, in return.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with people having their own spaces so why are you making an issue of that? Do you socialise in Brixton? Do you go out in Brixton much? Obviously you don't because you would never dare to say that what I said is nonsense. Irish - you may not recognise it but however unpalatable you may find it, the reality is that in places like Brixton and in other parts of the city, people don't mix that much. They really don't.
