So I'm off to buy me a car on Saturday. Looking at these two....

Model: Polo Price: £10,495
Body Style: Hatchback Mileage: 4,500*
Trim: S Date registered: Jul 2006
Engine Size: 1.4 Registration: GP06WUT
Fuel Type: Diesel Colour: Diamond Black
Transmission: Manual Interior Colour: anthracite
Est. Availability: Now Interior Material: select cloth

Model: Golf Price: £10,495
Body Style: Hatchback Mileage: 17,500*
Trim: S Date registered: Sep 2005
Engine Size: 1.4 Registration: AF55ZXB
Fuel Type: Petrol Colour: Reflex Silver
Transmission: Manual Interior Colour: anthracite
Est. Availability: Now Interior Material: media cloth

I'd prefer the golf to be honest but the option of Diesel draws me to the Polo although this is a WOMAN'S CAR.

Anyone got a newish version of either of these or can anyone give me any WISE WORDS.

CHEERS LADEEZ.

Was it worth asking??

GOLF all the way, it may be a year older and have a few more miles but its a VW and will last for years if serviced properly.

So is a Polo a VW which will be MASSIVELY more frugal

I would imagine the dieseal engine will have far more ooomph than a pokey 1.4 petrol too.

Why not drive them both rather than ask NSC ????

Or look here for decent advise :)

I have a Golf 1.4 fsi and in terms of performance I wish I had gone for a Polo 1.4. The 1.4 engine is just not powerful enough for the heavy Golf. My advice.....if you're going to buy a Golf go for the 1.6 as a minimum.

Must have money to BURN

Get a Skoda. Built by VW now anyway....

As a mate of mine said the majoritry of Taxis in brighton are skoda so they are obviously reliable considering the mileage they must do...

and even cheaper...a Skoda , same car no cred

You'd be better off buying an Alfa, at least you won't be bored to death by the car on a long journey :)

In my computer
My two penneth worth...

The diesel engine has more low down power - in the lighter polo it will probably seem faster...and this engine will be more economical...

The petrol golf is heavier and thats the small engine..If you're wanting to burn people off at the lights - you won't do it in that golf...but then a golf does look better...

Yeah but you're a woman. What do you know?

Only joking, that's good advising right there. Certainly something to think about over my impending crisp sandwich.
