And you open by commenting on whether I've gone yet? :lol: Off you trot now, we won't miss you...

Ha ha, I believe in his post immediately prior to that one he said he was off to watch some porn. I think it means (I've) Not gone yet.

If you got 500 people to pay I'd be amazed.

"It's only a quid, mine won't be missed, everyone else will do it."

Users paying/donating is, for me at least, an absolute last resort.

Agree Bozza, the hassle that the Player Kit Sponsorship pledging/collection usually becomes (for you) where we struggle to raise £1200 from NSC is an example.
If you need any temporary "mod" type checking/help then I can probably do some if needed. I'll be at home with my chemo stuff until mid-August (at least) and, frankly, have naff all else to do for most of the week.

Ha! Ok, oops. I could blame his post layout, but I'm not that childish... sorry, I take that point back...

We might have 1 chance to say to Google "we've cleaned up our act", take a look. And if they're being kind we might get a second chance. There is no room for negotiation here.

So, I think the steps are quite clear...

1. Try and crowd source a clean-up of stuff on here. Search for stuff like nsfw, norks, tits, topless etc etc. Report all threads that might be dodgy - be cautious and report anything if in doubt.
2. Mods remove all.
3. Stress very loudly to all what is and isn't acceptable.
4. Zero tolerance for any future offenders - one strike and you're out.
5. Bolster mod numbers to increase the chances of noticing bad content and having someone on hand to deal with post reports.

Do all of the above very publicly on the board so I can demonstrate our steps to Google, crossing my fingers as I do so.

This would seem the most sensible way forward and spreads the workload as well.

Jeez, look I very much doubt this is Google's shout. They are the middle man, here.

My guess, and it is only a guess, is that some Google advertisers will do an occasional spot-check looking at where their money has been spent. In doing so they looked at a slightly unsavoury NSC page and raised it with Google - "We would prefer not to have our ads associated with content such as this, please."

Google then essentially pass that on to the publisher which is me/us.

I'm not prepared to go to some ridiculous degree to try and stay in the Adsense programme, but I don't think we'll have to go that far. I think we should try and clean up our act with regard to images and leave it there. Tempering other aspects of NSC, such as bad language, is going too far given the terrace culture with which we are all aligned.

So, please, let's give it a go with the images and see where we get to. If we're still excluded then so be it - we think of a Plan B.

Tonight I'll archive off all threads from before 1st May. If you want to be part of the "clean 'em up and send 'em back" team, please PM me and I'll sort your account out so you can. No pressure to do anything in a hurry, just as and when - it will all help.

Sorry to press this Bozza, but is it just images, or are links to NSFW sites also to be removed?

I believe it's links too yes

Bozza said:
Google's terms state:

As stated in our program policies, AdSense publishers are not permitted to place Google ads on pages with adult or mature content. In addition to photos and videos which contain nudity or sexual activities, below are some other examples of unacceptable content:

* Lewd or provocative images
* Crude or indecent language, including adult stories
* Sexual tips or advice
* Sexual fetish sites (e.g. foot fetish content)
* Adult toys or products
* Ads or links to external sites containing adult content
* Adult links and/or adult keywords within the meta data in the source code of your site

Can everyone else please focus on REPORTING threads that have been posted on since May then?

I have been moving as many obvious ones as I can see (and its rather tricky being at work - I wouldn't be too surprised to get a call from the local cybernazis!) - but reporting them is the best thing you can do to help right now.

Can you turn off the rule that prevents you reporting posts more than every 60 seconds

Is Google our new automated moderator ? It will be a sad day when we can no longer call a Palace fan a muggy **** because its considered too mature.

No, I was referring to my previous post that, jokingly, said I was off to look at some porn.
My apologies for not making that clear.

One things for sure. The "feel" of NSC will change irrevocably. I've never been too fussed by the threads of teenage lust, (as long as they are marked NSFW), but they do help to set the tone of NSC as a semi-anarchic melting pot which crosses many societal boundaries.
There's not many places on the 'net like it...
...and it is going to change.

I'm unhappy that Google are throwing their weight around like this, but I do see that it is analogous to the "rules" you subscribe to in order to continue in paid employment.
It's their money, they can ask for what they want in exchange for it.
Ultimately it's up to us as readers and contributors to this forum, to decide whether the "deal" is worth it.

Lose too many users, and therefore page impressions, and the ads won't pay enough anyway.

Is anyone feeling just a bit "nannied"?

Quite frankly, if this forum costs six grand a year to run, then new hosts should be sought.
