I flew on a small plane to the helicopter station, then copter down into the canyon, then boat, lunch, then all the same in reverse.

Great day but I actually remember the small plane bit most vividly - an 8-seater. You could see clearly out of both sides of the plane whilst in yuor seat, it was a little bit windy and like flying on the back of a big bird.

Yep, did it. Well took the chopper from just outside the Canyon on a one hour tour of the Canyon.

Well worth it. Quite impressive when you're travelling 1,000ft above ground and then all of a sudden that turns into 10,000ft or whatever.

Did it 2 years ago, cost about $250 each, but something you must do..you'll regret it if you don't ..........thats what credit cards are for !

Done it with a stonking hangover and it was well worth it. Haggled and asked around for tickets on the strip and got a good deal, hotel limo pick up, helicopter descent and lunch in the canyon. Think that was about $300 each.

Bonus is they put the lightest in the front (getting the best view) so hopefully you will have a few chunky yanks as your co-passengers!

Been to Vegas twice this year....with friends and the missus and personally felt this was the most over-rated part of our trip. No doubt an amazing site but think there is better ways of doing it than by helicopter. Unless you have the option to land and view it from the bottom id give it a miss, or unless you have the time to drive there and do the skywalk. (approx. 8hrs I think)

A definate must is quad-biking in fire valley.....great day out!

Don't miss it. A lot of dosh but you'll always look back at it as the highlight of your holiday... one good tip. If you're going from Vegas try to time it so you get a journey that returns as it's getting dark. That way you also get a fantastic view of the Strip all lit up.

Try the Triangle Flight. It's brilliant!
You get to fly over Lake Powell, land in Monument Valley & go for a jeep ride. Then take off again for a flight over the Grand Canyon.
And at the end, you even get a certificate to prove you've done it!!

Yep went on pretty much the same thing stretch limo from the strip, 6 seater helicopter (they also weighed us all beforehand to get it balanced) helicopter descent and lunch inside the canyon and we got a DVD of it all as well. Think ours was about $175 though. Definitely got to be done, you only live once!

Intersting as planning a trip to Vegas in February so is it best to ask around first or are all trips roughly the same ?

Got back from Vegas couple of days ago. Did helicopter trip to Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon with Papillon - absolutely amazing! Recommend everyone goes to Vegas at least once and includes the helicopter to Grand Canyon.

It is unlike anything else.

Did you land and get breakfast? Did you do a massive sweep of the strip before you went back to O'Hare?

Did you pay $50 for a DVD of you getting on and off the Helicopter? Did the pilot get all defensive about near by Area 51?
