Because some people will turn almost anything into an opportunity to have a dig at him, while completely ignoring the fact that Barnes has accepted a role within the side which clearly doesn't suit him as much as centre forward does, but he's accepted it without toys being thrown out of the pram, complaints to the press or any other such acts of petulance. He's taken the role on for the team, at the expense of his own game to an extent, and certainly at the expense of the opinions of many people on here.

I applaud that sort of attitude myself, whereas others just seem to want to slag him off. I honestly do not understand it at all.

Gus,

Could do a job? :lolol: He must be tempted?

Could you imagine the feelings of the Wrexham team tonight if they saw our teamsheet and it had Poyet and Vicente on it. :lolol:

It'll never happen though....can't see Vicente being fit.

I have to keep explaining this to a couple of people who sit near me.

You sound like a supporter, somebody who supports the players, when they need it most, when they are going through a bad patch. You are not taking it as an opportunity to destroy their confidence and belittle them. You realise that they have talent, train hard and are dedicated to being the best they can. They may not end up being top class players but they will get closer then any posters on NSC and the more support they have the better they will perform.

This. It's not blind faith - it's called being a supporter.

I've always been a believer in Barnes and think he still will come good in the Championship! He obviously believes in the club and his faith and ability is noticed and Gus plays him consistently. I trust Gus too over negative posters on here

so very much this, People need to get of Harleys back and start giving him some positive encouragment, the guy is very very talented and will be a very good player for us for many years.

Exactly my thoughts people need to f*** off and stop giving this guy stick he will be the promised one very soon

People have very short memories. Harley is more talented than so many players we've had in the last 5 years - what do we achieve by getting on his back? JFC may well be the future but Harley can make a contribution too.

This being the chances he had against Millwall, Watford, Reading and Cov (amongst other games) where for a set piece "specialist" he "delivered" woeful corner after free kick after corner.

But yes lets keep giving him "chances" shall we.

Really bored of people starting [Harley/Barnes*] threads with the sole purpose of slating them, and presumably thinking they're being original in doing so. How many TIMES?

Personally, I think both players have a job to do for the team, it's just a question of working out how best to use them (spare me the inevitable "making tea?" answer). Please...if any of you get that feeling that you need to lay into either Barnes or Harley over the next few months, why don't you just use the search function on NSC and go find the umpteen previous threads on the subject: hopefully that'll make you feel better without having to bore the rest of us all over again with yet another new thread on the same subject.

We get it, they are both players who generate extreme opinions in supporters. Personally I try to judge their performances objectively, rather than leaping hysterically on every single tiny error in a manner that would never happen if it was, for example, Lua Lua or CMS or Dunk committing them. Do you actually want these guys to succeed...or would you be happier to see them fail?

I think it's fair to say that 95% of supporters support the team fully, but is it not okay to criticize when they are not playing well?

Every day I turn up for work. Somedays I am on fire and get all my work done and operate at 100% efficiency, I am motivated and people around me comment on how hard I am working. Somedays I just go with the flow and do what I need to to get through the day - I plod on unnoticed. Somedays I really can't be arsed and I am grumpy and people avoid me, i'm shit at my job and its really noticeable.

I am still employed by the same firm after 10 years.

I imagine footballers are much the same as the rest of us.
