[Albion] Tuchel announces his first England squad tomorrow, are we expecting any Brighton players to make the cut?..

No. Webster is too old for a first cap, Welbeck is too old for the squad full stop, Hinsh is too young, and Dunk is injured.

That's not to say that they shouldn't, just that I don't think they will
Age won't come into it. Tuchel is a temporary appointment, a mercenary. He's only here for next years World Cup. He won't be interested in "blooding" anyone for the future, there's no succession plan now beyond USA 2026.

The notion of developing future England players isn't in Tuchel's remit. Its simply all about next year - thats it. That was the choice the FA made. Its a choice for the here and now.

This.

Generally he also prefers older players. I don't think there's a "too old" in his books.

as much as love Welbeck, i'd be very concerned about the state of the rest of the English talent pool if he was called up.
Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins, Dominic Solanke, Danny Welbeck, Liam Delap... apart from those five (and Solanke is injured) I struggle to see who the other realistic options for CF would be?

There's a billion good English wingers right now but the depth up front isn't all that.

If the squad was being decided solely on form across the whole of this season from the top leagues, which it obviously won't be (Whoscored ratings, so a decent indication but not definitive), it would be... interesting. Have taken out injured players. Three from Palace, zero from Albion.

Pickford, Pope, Henderson

Tarkowski, Wan-Bissaka, Cresswell (Toulouse), Spence, Guehi, Tosin, Mitchell

Palmer, Bellingham, Eze, Gibbs-White, Rice, Maddison, Tavernier, Foden

Kane, Bowen, Gordon, Solanke, Hudson-Odoi, Gittens, Greenwood (😐)

I think Hinshelwood won't make the squad, but there will be drop-outs and that might be his way in. Otherwise, he'll be in the next one if he keeps himself fit.

Well, he is older than Ethan Nwaneri, and (two weeks) older than Kobbie Mainoo, who are both touted to be included.

Connor Gallagher will be in for sure after his goal last night.
He's been magnificent for Atletico so that seems likely. England doesn't have many work horses like that these days.

Hinshelwood has played 29 Premier League games. To me that seems a little early for an England call up. I’m sure there are examples of other young players being called up that early, but I’m not convinced.

Webster might have had a chance if he’d been playing all season, but feels like too few games back in our starting 11 to go straight to the England squad.

Does Welbeck score enough goals to be an England centre forward? Or would he play in a wider role?

I hope Jack Hinshelwood does not make the England squad because - quite simply - to be good enough for England he has to be an automatic name down for the Albion 1st XI and I don't think he's that, yet.

Let's see how he gets on in some of the big matches we have coming up. Much better to let him develop at the Albion and then have another look at him after the World Cup.

That said, he's not far off, and his versatility makes him an attractive bench option.

Exactly the same number of Premier League games as Adam Wharton who - in my opinion - is pretty close to being a starter for England as LCM. Wharton is just over a year older and has a season at Blackburn behind him before joining Palace.

I do agree that - generally - England have called up too many players too quickly, Mainoo and Angel Gomes being two recent examples.

The most curious thing..
None of our players have come up through the "England system", so nobody will be picked.

Although all the usual failures will be.
