Just been to Lancing, so I thought I'd have a look.

Adenstar are cracking on with work at the entrance road from Mash Barn Lane.
New fencing going up backing onto the Barfield Park houses. Gaps are being left in the new fence and new gates put into the house fences to allow access for the residents.
Ecologists will be arriving in a week or two to do their job checking the existing undergrowth. Adenstar will then get on with their business behind them.
Ducting will be installed under the planned footpath for cables and pipes.

I've included a Google Earth pic so you can see where the pics were taken from.

So it's finished already then. Brilliant! Very quick!

Relatively good result for the residents.

It was going to be developed one day anyway, and they won't now get hundreds of Barrett's type homes packed in with the noise and traffic of an added dense populace next door.

Dont actually own A camera! might invest though and take some snaps :)

Previous Documentary Photographers have become world famous for taking pictures of the Club info-structure being built. Phone pics would do for a start.

Quite. Some (and it must be stressed, "some", not all) residents were complaining about the extra traffic the training ground would mean (probably hardly any really).
Yet, as you suggest, the inevitable alternative would ultimately have been a rat run of anonymous Barrett style housing which would result in FAR FAR more traffic (not to mention, looking a lot uglier).

At least they will have something different on their doorstep than just more and more houses.
