EU warning that the Tory’s hoped for bonfire of EU regulation will spark a trade war.

The trashing of food and animal welfare standards and the binning of workers rights such as paid holiday, maternity leave, protected employment and the right to strike along with leaving the ECHR would lead to the EU protecting their own trade by putting tariffs on our exports.
This is because we can't make " Brexit Work " on the same terms as the EU terms and standards. The only way to undercut EU goods is to produce them cheaper. So, workers rights go on the bonfire in order to achieve this. Of course keeping standards but reducing profit margins might have the same effect but obviously that's not on the Tory agenda!

Additionally, Sunak's interest in leaving the ECHR is all about trying to keep the rabid Brexiteers on board, those 50,000 or so that get across the Channel are going to be vilified as the reason our economy is in free fall.....Remember Sunak said his top priority was to stop illegal immigration ( along with legal immigration ) rather than double digit inflation and a crumbling NHS. So, these poor desperate souls will be the first to suffer when we pull out...its absolutely insane but, that's where we are with a 12 year old government that's right out of talent and ability and is utterly corrupt.

It's fascinating to watch.

How this extreme wing of the Conservative party is actively attempting to re-position everyone else.

Right of centre Tories are now centrist wets, centrist Tories are now socialists, I presume socialists are now "communists".

The Bank of England is run by Channel 4 commissioning editors whilst the City has been infiltrated by the Student Union.

Wibble.

Why do wet-wipes like Truss never rebrand themselves as something useful. Comeback as a cleaner or a volunteer? No, always comeback as a nasty little failed politician.

Just f*** off. Nobody wanted you in the first place and nobody wants you back now. Take that translucent face with an expression like a slapped twat and piss off back to your country mansion.

I can only recall a couple of MP's that rehabilitated their reputations. John Profumo who, after his resignation worked tirelessly in the shadows as a charity fundraiser and, Michael Portillo the once darling of the Right Wing Tories, who seems to have changed considerably for the better after getting an unlimited train pass.

Suella Braverman’s “dream” of flying refugees to Rwanda could be realised by the end of the year and before the next election, government sources have said.

The home secretary believes that “with a fair wind” the European court of human rights in Strasburg could rule on the controversial policy by the end of 2023 and is unlikely to overturn UK court rulings.

It’s maddening. I am genuinely very, very concerned for our future. It’s obvious the Tory’s wish to effectively wipe out all but the wealthy in this country.

When I semi retire at 50, I shall be taking my Irish passport and myself out of the U.K.

It’s a dying country.
Small point of order. The Tories still want the poor. Who else will do the work? What they want to do is wipe out any dissent.

She’s first against the wall when I seize power.

Hiding in shame is exactly what she should be doing.

It does feel that way. I'm already retired and only have a British passport 🤷‍♂️. It seems this is the latest step to appease the extreme Brexiteers in the party?? Shirley business is damaged enough by Brexit (to focus on only one aspect of this...). Nothing much the population can do in the short term, but I hope there's sufficient expose in some of the press for people to remember at the next election.
I shall waste 20 minutes of my day writing to my MP (Gray, Nth Wiltshire) about it, and await his patronising reply supporting the party line.

Very much the same. My daughter is applying to extend her visa in Australia and much as I would love her to come back, as a Father I really can't put put together any case for her to. Myself and Mrs Wz have a couple of very elderly relatives we are responsible for, but if they're not here, I can't see anything keeping us in the UK. I really never thought I would feel this way about the country where I was born and bought up.

It's come to the point for me where a British passport may well be my biggest problem, though not insurmountable
