Indeed, NO ONE wants a nuclear power plant anywhere near them ....any new build nuclear will require years, possibly a decade, of Public inquiries before the go ahead....even then they are rarely brought in on schedule.....hilarious!

I do think those that aren't keen on having on-shore wind farms in their vicinity should be offered the alternative of a nuclear power station. That'll train their thoughts. This should have been done decades ago, of course.

I don't think there are any easy wins, the energy situation needs attacking from every angle but with long term, realistic and achievable targets.

I'd like to see them go full tilt on renewables with nuclear backup and bring back grant schemes for solar panels, the old one was working so I'll never understand why it was scrapped. Another, better grant scheme for insulation would help for sure.

Hard to disagree.

Just my point is there are so many badly insulated properties especially in the rental market where landlords and property management companies don't have to give a shit.

Maybe extra stamp duty on properties that are not at EPC potential

Starmer now being investigated over lockdown rule breaking.

What is wrong with the police? Won’t investigate, then will investigate months later

He was investigated and cleared because he was campaigning in Hartlepool for a by-election in April 2021, under different covid rules, with exceptions for campaigns.

A Tory MP, trying to deflect attention from Johnson, and with elections next week, wrote a FOI to Durham police and has received a standard response. It is being touted as the investigation being reopened.

A storm in a eggcup, twisted to deflect from parties where actual law breaking took place. The Daily Mail should be fined for its lying front page.

right. they also want power to be on, cheap, and also zero carbon. cant do it without nuclear.
And as I say, no one wants a Nuclear power station anywhere near them. There will be a massive outcry requiring a Pubic Inquiry which could drag on for years for each one.

So, it's going to take at least 10 years + for Johnsons " One a Year " nuclear plants to come online, another empty promise from a PM who is highly liable to be deposed within the next 9 months.

This has zero to do with the police “re-investigating” and is all about a desperate attempt by a desperate government to smear and cloud what they were doing to ignore the rules, they themselves set.

The letter, sent to Durham constabulary, has elicited this response from the force.

“As a courtesy, we have replied to Mr Holden to confirm we have received that letter and will consider its contents before responding in due course.”

Doesn’t sound like Starmer now being investigated to me...

Deflection, smearing, shit throwing, call it what you like, all done in the name of saving Boris Johnson’s skin and those of his cabinet colleagues who know they would be toast if their master went!

A pathetic letter from an idiot MP.
I am pretty sure the police will not waste much time on this.

Desperate times for the Daily Mail. They truly are an awful rag....

My understanding is that an EPC is required every time a new tenancy starts and that in a few years the minimum requirement will be a B. Same requirement doesn't apply for homes bought and sold. We have the oldest, leakiest housing in Europe so an increase in regulation and incentives is urgently needed.

You say that but we have already seen one numbnuts who fell for it.

I wonder what they would say to this? This was also in Hartlepool.

Supporters stayed outside in the pouring rain for 45 minutes.
As NSC and way beyond has regularly demonstrated, they're prepared to pay a heavy price for their sycophancy.

Unfortunately, the damage is done. With their front page headline, the Daily Mail has now persuaded millions of their readers to not vote labour.

Oh......hang on....

It panders to the 'they're all as bad as each other' voters (or non-voters because they can't be bothered to turn out).

Nothing. It is so boringly predictable that media outlets are spinning rubbish knowing full well their target audience will lap it up - truth or not. I am genuinely expecting to stop seeing Britain in these stories and starting to see Airstrip One.

There is more fuel for this line this morning with a Labour MP being found guilty of bullying and an accusation of a senior Labour MP using lewd language about a female Welsh MP.

Disagree entirely. These two instances you mention are serious findings or complaints, and demonstrate that it's not just Tories that are exclusionary and unpleasant (although they have the lion's share of it).
The Starmer thing was manufactured nonsense by our wonderful media that claims that it 'holds politicians to account', in a feeble but all too effective attempt to draw an equivalence between our PM and the Leader of the Opposition.

I'm not against any of that.

This is the thing with discussing politics, you and I are generally the complete opposite on these threads but on many of the major issues our goals are very similar.

How we achieve those goals, how quickly and who is to blame for previous failures is where the arguments tend to happen :lolol:

There are 56 MPs on both sides of the house being investigated for sexual allegations. I wonder how many have lied about it.

Walked past a newspaper stand this morning, porngate did not feature in the Murdoch, Rothermere or Barclay publications

Amazing how far and fast we're fallen under this corrupt and immoral cabal
