Gods country fortnightly
Throw in all the dodgy contracts that were being rewards to their mates as well around this period. It stinks...

its good job twitter conveys the breadth of the ruling.
the procedure still stands as the default response to infectious outbreak. PHE/their replacement have not changed policy, at least as of late last year.

Well he would say that wouldn't he!!

As someone who deals with HMRC on a daily basis I can absolutely assure you that is total BS.

A helpline that was invariably answered within 3 rings now takes 10-15 minutes to be answered. Correspondence that used to get a response in 4-6 weeks is now taking 3-4 months. I had an acknowledgement from HMRC yesterday thanking me for my "recent contact". My letter was dated 8 December 2021 - so HMRC now deems over 4 months to be "recent".

I have been dealing with HMRC for decades and never has the service deteriorated to such an appalling level.

As a former civil servant myself (Customs & Excise and Inland Revenue) we were trained that we were there to "serve the public". Now it is a total farce.

Maybe it depends on who you are dealing with - which department. His bit is pretty specialist.

But they are all subject to cuts and constraints...... and incompetent politicians.

The judge confirmed that Witty (March 13th) and the SAGE meeting advised about asymptomatic transmission. It seems the government ignored the advice, which is why the High Court has ruled the government broke the law.

This was so ridiculously dumb, New York did the same and thousands died.

Hopefully those in Sage face questions as well

But Dr Ian Hall, of SPI-M, admits models did not reflect how care homes actually work, or identify the serious risk posed by agency staff working in different homes.
"The failure of those models, I guess, was that we didn't know how connected the social care settings were with the community," he says.
"As modellers we didn't know - I'm sure there are lots of academics and policy-makers out there, that could have told us this, if we'd asked them."
Coronavirus would go on to kill more than 20,000 people in care homes.

Can you prove this is due to WFH? I suspect it's more likely due to other factors.

We will consider the verdict in detail and comment further in due course.

Which translates to Oi! Raab I thought you were getting on with the job of stopping judges rule on political issues against this Government.

He's (Johnson) mislead Parliament again. It has to be deliberate at this point - he's had his wrist slapped on this one multiple times already. He once again claimed that the number of people in work has increased by 500k, when the reality is that once you take into account self-employed it has dropped by 600k.

Starmer needs to be more responsive to this - he can't call it out as a lie due to the stupid rules, but I'm sure he can work around it given that BJ has been told multiple times now that the way he is using that figure is misleading. It's just a matter of responding with a carefully worded rhetorical question of whether or not BJ is aware of the corrections he has received in relation to that stat. If BJ says yes, he hangs himself for deliberately misleading Parliament. If he says no, he hangs himself almost as badly given he's been told multiple times.

the Rolls Royce modular reactors will make that possible. whether they'll be approved and whether local groups wont delay or prevent installation we wait and see. i hope so because relying on gas and wind has been proven not very good energy policy.

Way out West
So, today we have:

- Tory minister watching porn on his phone whilst attending a debate in the HoC
- Tory social mobility commissioner claiming that the reason for low female representation in A-Level Physics is because "girls don't like hard maths"
- Tory supporting newspaper (The Mail) claiming that Angela Rayner enjoys the sexist slurs directed towards her

Great day for equality. I seriously wonder how any woman (or, indeed, man) can vote Conservative.
