Each to their own, but the Gaudi Park (Parc Gueill or something) is a great spot for the view as well as the architecture/design, as is the cable car up to the old castle. The beach at Barcelonetta is (despite being man-made) pretty nice to kill a few hours in the sun if you have it. Personally, I wouldn't shell out the money to go inside the Sagrada Familia unless it has come on massively in the last couple of years, as you can appreciate it fantastically from outside.

This, the Gaudi gardens are a must!

And the food market. Supposed to be one of the best and largest in Europe. I ate something unspeakable there (not sure which entrails of the particular animal it was) but was delicious. It's called the Boqueria - website attached.

Wouldn't normally recommend such a thing but the three open top bus trips are very good ... you buy one ticket and can get off anywhere and then hop back on the next one along (ev 5/6 minutes) again when you're finished looking around that bit. They take you to absolutely all the interesting bits in the City and it saves having to try and put an itinery together.

If you want a good local restaurant try the 4Cats, just off Las Ramblas ... mixed reviews on Trip Adv but I've been 4/5 times and all good - book and go in the back not the front cafe part

Watch out for pickpockets particularly around the Cafe's in Place De Catalunya

Las Ramblas not a patch on what it used to be since they moved all the acts along .... once you've seen one statuesque hermit you've seen 'em all!!

Was just about to mention the bus trips myself. You beat me to it. Yes - very good indeed for that sort of thing. Helped us choose which places to go back to as well.

I think a visit to the Grand casino is fun, largest floor space for gambling in Europe I believe. The restaurant in there was thai/chinese and reduced prices down to silly rates, all due to being subsidised by the gambling.
Great restaurant known as the Siete Porta in Barceloneta, must be booked to avoid long waits.

Went there in May and would echo the statements above. The Sarada Familia is amazing and well worth a visit. Of course the Camp Nou is on you radar too and will while away a few hours. Las Ramblas is good for a bit of sight seeing and there's some fair restaurants down there. Definitely get the tourist bus - although it seems expensive (31 euros for two days) its useful to familiarise yourself with the city. Enjoy yourself - it was my first visit in May and I'm definitely going back

I haven't actually been for about 5 years but this was always a classic tipico Spanish restaurant from days long gone. If you are in the Ramblas area I'd recommend you go along and check it out ( and let me know when you get back if it's still a good place to eat really typical old style Spanish food in a great atmosphere )
