This 6 figure bid.

Myself and a fair few posters have been consistently opposed when we suggested that we should have money for transfers.

Would those of you who listed reasons why we couldn't afford a postage stamp now admit you had it wrong.

:)

petty, but a top shout.

100k (at least) is a fair amount of money to have available to spend.

It's a PR stunt by the club.

And would it make good business sense, £100k plus on a player unproven at this level and available for alot less in the summer?

Especially when Clydes valuation is far in excess of £100k and they know it will be turned down

Yes but the bloke is out of contract at the end of this season and a fee would be decided by a tridunal which means Clyde could get screwed.

Funny innit. No money blah blah blah and then big 100 GRAND for a player that has never dome anything of note apart from playing on the tele once against a shit Celtic side.

Brighton has scored 5 goals in 23 games at a lower lever this season, he is not better than what we have, McGee needs to stick to two strikers and give them his faith and install them with confidence.

CKR & HARTY upfront for me!!

No it's not.

Graham Roberts said that Tom Brighton was a £1,000,000 player after Clyde beat celtic. granted roberts was probably driunk but £100,000 was never going to get him. PR stunt by Dick, keeps us all on board

What a load of tosh you all come out with. Publicity stunt my arse. Jesus.

Can't win can they, the board?

If they didn't go after anyone, everyone screams "Why not!"

When they do it's all just a "publicity stunt".

Get a grip. WE ALL knew that this season would be a struggle. If we finish fourth from bottom it would be an achievement, we virtually all agreed on that at the start of the season.

There's a way to go yet.......

I do not believe that the club had any intention of buying anybody during the transfer window as we had no money much better financially to wait until now and bring in a couple of loan signings.

I think the clue is in MMs statement that he was suprised Clyde turned it down because he will go in the summer for about £10k.

If that is the case that is his value why offer £100k? Especially for an unproven striker scoring very few goals i.e 1 every 4.6 games, in a lower standard of football, which means we can expect 3 - 4 goals between now and the end of season.

Expect a summer signing 'for a nominal amount '.

TC is quite right - in a situation like this the Board can't win with some people. Unless they actually sign someone there will always be conspiracy theorists that will believe we tried to deceive the fans by deliberately bidding too low. Then, even if we did sign someone, those same people will find any number of reasons to talk the new guy down (not experienced enough; too old; played for Palace; paid too much). Let's face it, there are a vocal minority that want MM (and even DK) out and they'll use anything to convince themselves they're right.
