TC is quite right - in a situation like this the Board can't win with some people. Unless they actually sign someone there will always be conspiracy theorists that will believe we tried to deceive the fans by deliberately bidding too low. Then, even if we did sign someone, those same people will find any number of reasons to talk the new guy down (not experienced enough; too old; played for Palace; paid too much). Let's face it, there are a vocal minority that want MM (and even DK) out and they'll use anything to convince themselves they're right.

Quite right. The problem is that they think if they throw enough mud around that some of it will stick.
The scenario then is that the club gets dragged down further.
