If Robbie Keane had been the loan signing and a mystery 3rd party was going to have paid his wages (might have only been 10k us, 30k 3rd party, 25k parent club you never know) I could almost believe that. However surely he would have dropped to Champ but never league 1 so not true then, and now surely he could get a permanent move to bottom half Prem club who wouldn't have paid loan wages but would take him on a free.
