If you're going to spend over £2 a pint then I want something that's got some taste - so definitely a decent ale for me.
HSB - TT Landlord - or Theakstons OP.

On the subject of beer - I was in the Sussex Potter in Lancing the other night and a guy bought 1 bottle of Becks and 1 bottle of Bud - Cost £5.22......! Over £5 for the equivalent of 1 pint of beer - F**k me - is it really worth it for a couple of labels ?

If I ordered a pint, and the barman charged me a fiver, I'd deck the bastard !

This suggests the aroma is going to be loaded with chocolate or coffee.........
The banana fruitness continues in the mouth, dark malt flavours certainly emerging.......:drink:

CHEAP BEER

Can't beat a pint of Harveys. I'm with you there.
I work in Lewes and it's great when they're brewing and the lovely malty smell wafts across town. Mmmmmmmm!

If you like your bottled beers, Thresher are doing 4 for £5 which includes Marstons Firestoker. It's lovely.
Also, I noticed yesterday that Tesco have about 30p of ALL bottled beers (and they've got loads) until the end of the month.
Hobgoblin for £1.13 a bottle - can't go wrong.

Quote from Chapmans the Saviour:

....Best real ale pub i ever went to is the Vat and Fiddle near Nottingham Station, it has its own Brewery next door and at least 8 guest beers on at any one time......

I know the pub well, mate lives very close, although I hate beer/ale (!) the pub is an excellent little one, and their sarnies are spot on

PS Just got in from playing golf to watch a bit of cricket and SA are already all out for 107!!! What a waste of space they are

Sydney .
When in the U.K. a few years back ,
I pulled off the M5 in search of a pub for lunch .
Drove a short distance and came across
a country inn called , " The Crown " .
On tap they had Banks Bitter --- bloody fantastic !
It's brewed in Wolverhampton .

"Chapmans The Saviour" --- You claim to appreciate
real ale , but looking at all that crap you've been pouring
down your throat in your "weekly beer count" , I suggest
you look up the word , " contradictory " .

"Black Sheep Bitter" ( mentioned earlier ) --- Did a tour
of The Black Sheep Brewey in Masham , Yorkshire .
Top place to visit . Great story told on how the beer
got its name . Free beer thrown in afterwards as well !
