Congratulations on your excellent cup win.

Most Palace fans will try to diminish it by laughing at the quality of opposition, but don't listen to that, 8-0 is still no mean feat.

I dare say that you will kick on well from the result. We beat Southend 8-0 in a cup match in our greatest ever season (3rd place in the old Div 1 - 1990/91). Confidence was evident.

As for our form - you must be equally delighted. I'm dismayed to report that we really are as bad as results suggest. I'm actually dreading drawing you mob in the third round, when normally I'd be praying for it.

There were slight signs of improvement on Saturday, but they were pretty minimal.

If we don't buy a goalscorer in January then we are in real danger.
