The Bad News :

LDC is still LibDem controlled. DeVechie is still there, with her new sidekick Cutress from Falmer PC ( who will no doubt be appointed to the planning sub - commitee )

:nono: :nono: :nono:

Uncertain :

If the views of the LibDem councillors just elected on Falmer differ in any way to the overall views of those before them.

The Good News :

The great performance and effort of the Seagulls Party candidates

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Pepper and Neighbour OUT OUT OUT!!!

Asking voters to vote Tory just to get rid of the Lib Dems isn't the answer. What happened if the Tory candidate was against the stadium? We would still be lumbered with anti stadium councillor

If the Tory was pro stadium, then Tory voters who didn't want the stadium would probably have voted Lib Dem.

Its never that straightforward in politics. I think it was best to stand.

To be honest I think we have done very well. Ok we didn't win a seat, but we again won the argument.

Pepper and Neighbour lost their seats and are now consigned to history

De Vechii vote was split in half

The Lib Dems need to look at where it all went wrong. Yes a resurgent Tory party, but our argument was in their too.

It depends on what spin you choose to put on it.

Without taking anything away from the Seagulls Party who have done an absolutely brilliant job and all credit must go to them, there are a couple of issues:

1... we demanded that LDC put their actions to a referendum and the good people of lewes ( of which 5000 put their names to a petition) would be given the chance to say NO to the LDC action.......LDC could say, well, we just in effect have and they have returned us as the majority.

2..... perhaps the people of Lewes district do not regard the Falmer issue as a show stopper and although we may have got some votes( in fact more votes that we could have ever thought possible) the main issues of the borough took precedence in people's minds.

The next real issue will be this:

If Kelly says "YES go ahead", will the council feel that the votes they did not receive and the people they have lost, ie pepper and neighbour are worth carrying on the fight and going for a judicial review. That is the $64,000 question.

Again, it must be emphasised, well done to all the Seagull party and the efforts of everyone who made it happen.
