Did you go on the Maid of the Mist?

No. With three others I was travelling with, we trekked down [Canadian side] and camped on a little rocky beach, a couple of hundred yards downstream. It was very NOISY.

Don't get me wrong, it BIG and all that, and I wouldn't want to swim under it, but

The Grand Canyon, however - truly incredible.

What about the Galapagos Islands. Anyone been there? Just an absolutely f***ing ridiculous place.

You could say that about anything though.

The Sistine Chapel? Just a bit of paint on concrete.

Buckingham Palace? Just a few bricks.

Amazon rainforest? Just a few trees.

True enough Thomas.

But PERSONALLY I found Niagara disappointing.

And the Amazon is a LOT of trees... My folks took a cruise last year, from Fort Lauderdale, down the coast of central America, and up the Amazon beyong Manaus. From the pics, it looks an AMAZING trip. Would love to go up the Amazon.

I tell you what?

I'll continue to give honest, PERSONAL appraisals, of what I have PERSONALLY found underwhelming, and you can go off and be dull and condescending somewhere else.

Deal?

I'm not arguing with you. I agree, I went a couple of times, doing the 'behind the falls' stuff and all that, and wasn't THAT impressed. But when I finally went on the Maid of the Mist I finally got it. It changes your whole pespective. You really missed out by not going on it, but so did I the first couple of times.

The Dead Sea.

Unlike Niagra falls (spectacular) it is so commercialised & they turn off the falls like a tap at night!

At least the Dead Sea is natural, not overly touristy & nothing like it in the world.

You really can float reading the paper & of course its the lowest point in the world.

Prefer the Israel side but the Jordan side is nice too.
