The Greek islands...

Looking to go on holiday to the Greek Islands during the summer. Probably with three or four other 19 year olds.

Where is best for people our age? I'd like a place with pretty good nightlife, good beaches, but not filled out with chavs like many of these places.

Santorini and Naxos were my favourite 2 islands of my tour of Greece a couple of years back. Naxos is the quiter of the two, but neither are as mad as Mykonos or Malia

Malia is full of chavs and is known as 'Blackpool with sunshine'. Best bet would be Zante as its a little too expensive for most nobheads.

Was a couple of years ago, but Mykonos was brilliant when we went - Paradise and Super Paradise beaches, had full on parties in bars and their swimming pools during the day with lots of hot Greek girls, and also various other euros.

There is also a good club, set into the cliffs, where we saw Carl Cox play - Cavo Paradiso.

We're looking into the same kind of thing. At the moment Zante (Laganos) is our number one going on what people have said, i'd go with the advice abroad and avoid Malia, I know wherever you go you'll have a few twats about, but Malia topps them all.

We've found hotel, flights and transfers for about £360 each going early August.

So far I'd looked into Zante, Kos, Ios, Mykonos. I thought Zante was the wildest with the most chavs, equivalent to Malia? That put me off it..
Mykonos is meant to be very good, but seems a haven for gays (not that I'm overly homophobic ( Mykonos the Gay friendy island, Mykonos gay bars, Mykonos gay )

Loved the look of Ios, but perhaps a little too much effort as we'd have to go to Santorini then get a boat to Ios. Anyone been?

stay away from Malia!!...i was their the year of the riots/stabbings/hospital ambush etc...ruined everyones holiday...not saying that would happen again but my god its a shit hole!

Personally I prefer the smaller out-of-the-way and harder-to-get-to islands but they are probably too quiet for you. Also they tend not to be in the big travel company brochures.

We never usually go to the same place twice but we've just booked Kos again for two weeks this summer. Absolutely loved it last year. I'd say Kos Town would be your best place to stay in terms of stuff going on and Turkey is only a fifteen minute ferry ride away.

Kos would be your best bet - good for a night out but isn't such a commercialised chavfest like Malia, Kavos, Faliraki and Zante.

Skiathos is surprisingly good. Corfu has some good resorts on the north-east coast, with easy access to the town and nightclubs.

Don't come here. (Well, not Malia, obviously.) Although Platanias and Chania in north-west Crete are great in the season.

Go to Mykonos! I am straight ( I think), but I have been there 3 times, with mates, in a crowd, and with my wife, it is not a place for family holidays! It is NOT CHEAP, so that keeps the chavs away, but it has OK beaches, good evening entertainment and cracking nightlife, but you MUST have an open mind, ENJOY!

I went to Ios a few years back. Very few English, many scandanavians and a few ozzies. God I love that place. Great lads holiday. We played the local greeks at footie and spanked them as well.

I went to Rhodes about 18months ago and I would definatly go back. I was with the missus so didnt see Falaraki but the rest of the island is great. There are amazing beaches, the nightlife on the rest of the island is pretty good aswell and if you hire a car you can be away from all the populated areas in about 10mins!

I know people who have been to Falaraki aswell and they love it.
