Age of the poster will always be a factor in these sort of polls.

For me, I would have to agree with Ditchy.

Mark Lawrenson, despite his goonery since leaving, was FAR AND AWAY the best player I've seen in the stripes.

Peter Ward WASN'T FAR BEHIND

:jester: :)

Lawrenson
Ward
Horton - also happened to be the captain of possibly the best and without doubt the most exciting ever Brighton side, the one that came out of Div 2.

Peckham
Gotsmanov, was absolutely GUTTED when he went to The Saints.

Case, the midfield general, shame he tarnished it all with his appaling stint as manager.

Zamora.

Could you tell me a little more about Barry Rees? I must admit I have never heard of him.

Cheers

I believe he was 19 when we signed him from Everton, but he was already a under 21 international for Wales.
He was a member of the team that won promotion from Division4 along with the likes of Bobby Smith, Mel Hopkins, Norman Gall and Jimmy Collins.
He was killed in a car crash going home to Chester after a game.
He had a wonderfull engine and would cover every blade of grass during a game, fast, powerfull with a great shot.
I think he would have become a real star if had not been for the tragic accident.
