I must admit I think I might vote green. I think LI is correct in saying that Labour are the lesser of two evils but after talking to my mate who is doing his PHD in energy policy it certainly made me think that it might be worthwhile voting for them. However I am just as likely to not vote at all if it meant voting for one of the big boys, they are all shit heads

Naturally I would agree, but we can't let the Tories back in though, can we? Bad as Blair is, the Tories would be far worse in running down the public services, far worse in cutting funding to schools and the NHS.

So Labour it is - and there are still plenty of socialists left in the party.

I am no Conservative or Socialist, but I think that the attitude of voting like an unthinking android , by party is so dangerous. You cannot blindly vote Labour or Tory, Socialist or Conservative. There have been equally times that people have needed to vote different ways for different benefits. We need this to make sure that each party has to think about what policies it carries out, see Thatcher and the Poll Tax or Blair and Iraq. When power is assured, people and parties do what they want.

Tories - Gave the planning permission to bulldoze the Goldstone and constantly have stood in the way of the Albion over the years. They also completely ruined Brighton when they were in charge of the council...you think it is bad now, try speaking to those who were around when they were running the show.

LibDems - Bunch of nimby fuckwits - how can ANY of you who call yourselves true Brighton fans even think about voting for this bunch of wankers.

Greens - Can never seem to make their mind up who they want to support in council meetings and are grossly hypocritical.

Labour - are utter crap at the moment, but have always come up trumps for the Albion and for Brighton & Hove locally.

Other - Bring on Lord B...i'd vote for you!

That's the argument that Labour always rely on though - "OK, we're now right wing; we're going to screw over the poor in favour of big business but if you don't vote for us, the Tories will get in and they're even more right wing."

It gets to a point where there's little to choose between them. Sure, 'Dave' Cameron's cuddly image hides some unpleasant views but I can't see the Tories being quite as oppressive as Labour have been on issues such as identity cards, imprisonment without trial etc.

There may be plenty of socialists still in the party but they're keeping themselves well-hidden.

You see BoF, if you were to tell me that the Tories are promising to abolish student loans, I'd agree with you that they have changed.

The likelihood, however, is that they will take this awful Labour legislation and worsen it by charging students even more.

Less of the rubbish about "chips", you have to convince me with detailed evidence of what the Tories will do that has really changed them from a party that ALWAYS runs down public expenditure on vital services.

I was using chip in an non offensive way. It was quicker than writing "...why do you still hold a grudge from all those years ago...."

You are just speculating about the conservatives charging more on top of the student fees.

If you would like to read their policies, you will see that their aim is to improve public services, something Labour are failing at miserably.

A reshuffle and re structure of our country is needed. Have you been watching the fiascos unveiling. (EDITED) Hewitt not Howell, Clarke, Jowell, Blunkett, Brown? Utter buffoons. Fresh blood is needed and I see that in the conservatives.

Labour. Always have Always will, although I dont like tony blair. The only viable option IMHO.

I have to say that I have voted Labour in the last couple of elections because I felt that we had a better chance of getting Falmer.

If Falmer is done and dusted by the time the next election comes along, and by christ I hope it is, it will be a harder decision.

Probably would depend on the Independent Candidates that would run in Brighton. I couldn't vote Lib Dem (for obvious reasons) and based on the performance of local Conservative councilllors (Peltzer-Dunn, Older et al) who seem intent on keeping Brighton in the dark ages, I'm not sure I could vote for them either.
