Taking the 'paint pot' seriously yet?

All we had to do is beat Barnet, Leyton Orient, Swindon, Shrewsbuy, Luton/Walsall and we are here...

Luton / COLCHESTER isn't it?

Oh behave, Samuel!

40,000 in the Johnstone Paint Trophy?

We'd be lucky if that was the TOTAL crowd. 20,000 from Brighton max.

So we get £100k for winning the trophy, probably another £100k from merchandise, a half decent crowd for the area final should make a further £50k. For those reasons alone it has to be worth the effort.

The £10k we would get from being on TV in the next round alone would make it worth winning for the club.

Didn't Bristol Rovers play at the Millennium Stadium? Which is in Cardiff, ie about 25 miles from Bristol?
Yes they did, but that was for the play-offs I think. The first paint pot trophy at new Wembley involved Bristol Rovers and they took 40,000 - although clearly a lot of that was for the novelty of the new stadium.

Edit: you might be right actually. 40k for the league 2 play off final, and a paint pot appearance at Cardiff...

Surely there must be at least 40,000 people in Sussex who would get a semi at the thought of Colin Hawkins scoring an OG to rival the one he managed against the Hangers?

We took 28,000 to Cardiff. Granted, Cardiff is further away than Wembley, but that was a big game with a big prize. This is a micky mouse cup. If we had a play-off final at Wembley we'd take upwards of 30,000 because plenty of glory hunters would come out, but for the JPT it's just going to be the real fans who are prepared to suffer the embarrassment of being in the JPT in order to see their team at Wembley. There aren't many of those - 20k max.
Do you think the "day trippers" really care that much what is riding on the game? After all what percentage of people who were at Cardiff would actually have GONE to a game the next season? We've not been to Wembley for YEARS, never the new one, it's a much much easier journey than Cardiff.
