whaddaya reckon?

Pleased as I am that we are facing Donny in our opening game, the romantic in me gae way to my selfish, not in the country side after a couple of minutes to say 'Not exactly television material'.

I thought I'd check last season's opening TV games and here they are

Fri 6th - Championship - Norwich City v Watford (7.45pm)
Sat 7th - Championship - Leeds United v Derby County (5.15pm)
Sun 8th - Championship - Cardiff City v Sheffield United (12.35pm)

I suppose all of these clubs are 'big', but what with the fact we were promoted as Champions, the new stadium and the Gus factor, anyone see any chance that we might get on the telly box?

there's always the featured game option like last year's Huddersfield game with mental commentator

Agreed with above fixtures. Think they are more likely to choose Blackpool at home or possibly Gills in the cup.

I'm pretty sure it'll be the West Ham game. It'll take Sky a few months to cotton on to the fact that they're not actually in the Premiership any more!

Southampton v Plymouth on the opening day of last season was also televised.

I don't know how much this will effect the thinking of TV companies when choosing games, but the following week, we (Donny) are at home to West Ham.

its a nice story and everything, but can you really see the armchair fan deciding to settle down and watch brighton v doncaster as their fix of football for the weekend?

money and viewing figures talk, and i cant see that really offering either

West Ham are going to be the TV pets this season, like Newcastle were previously and Leeds always were when they were in League One.

A non-televised Albion v Donny on the Saturday with a 3.00 KO is the one for me.
Selfish I know but what a day it will be for those that have a ticket to be there ??

3.00 start on Saturday will do me as I'm going to the O2 in the evening to see Iron Maiden! Straight from ground up to London by train.

Agreed with above fixtures. Think they are more likely to choose Blackpool at home or possibly Gills in the cup.

There is bound to be 30 seconds of highlights of the Carling Cup match as Gillingham is the local team for BBC1 South East and Meridian South East viewers.

Do you think our Tuesday night home game vs Palace will be televised? It's Champions League same night I believe.. I assume this tie won't be moved for tv, despite it being a potential cracker.

(guess who can't make the Palace game!?!! Grrr)
