Smoothies

Lush

Mods' Pet
Dear NSC. I have an confession to make. I eat no fruit. None whatsoever. Not even cute little strawberries. It's not that I don't like the taste - I just find fruit incredibly HARD WORK.

However, I am now determined to eat more healthily. I have cut out pork pies and chocolate. I have also invested in a blender.

I would be grateful for any yummy tried and tested smoothie recipes.

Thank You.

Hi Lush,

Try this, one of my faves I make on those hot summer nights!

Strawberry Smoothie

2 cups orange juice
1/8 fresh pineapple, chunked
1 whole banana, previously chunked and frozen
Frozen whole strawberries
Creamy non-fat vanilla yogurt
Lime

Place orange juice, pineapple and banana in blender and start blending. Add frozen strawberries a few at a time until blender jar is full and smoothie is a pretty pink color. Blend until smooth but keep thick and frozen. Add 2 big rounded spoonfuls of creamy vanilla yogurt. Serve in individual pedestal goblets leaving 1/2 inch head space. Garnish with round slice of lime over edge of glass.

Lush,

Once you make one, you will get the idea how to do it. I just get adventurous by buying exotic fruits and cream etc etc.

I have made some beauties but can never remember how!!!

I have two favourites. Both easy to make;

Chocolate and Banana (the banana seems to have been designed for smoothies!)

two bananas
two scoops of vanilla/chocolate ice cream
pint of milk
couple of good spoonfuls of nesquick (sp?)

Peanut butter and Banana

pint of milk
two bananas
spoonful of peanut butter
slice of brown toast (yes indeed)

buzzit!

Some white rum in the first one goes well too ;)

If you have a 'hard core' blender then you can make up sumer drinks with simply fruit and a load of ice!

I don't like smoothies.

I do like Tesco finest freshly squeezed orange & grapefuit juice though.

I've also copied the salad recipie from my local coffee shop, lettuce, coleslaw, tomatoes, sweetcorn, pineapple ( which I've replaced with pickle ) & grapes. Add celery to taste.

Hey Lush. Used to make mad lots of these back when I was a cocktail barman. Try this one...

5 or so big strawberries
half an apple, peeled and chopped
squeeze of lime
mixture of orange and pineapple juices
dash of cranberry juice
dash of cream

and if you've got it, a scoop of crushed ice.

Blend for ages to mash up the ice, then drink.

HELLA FRESH!

We need Maui's finest back; just where is NSC's erstwhile cocktail expert Ken Livingstone Seagull?

His cocktail recipes always involved a certain amount fruit juice...although this was always drowed in vast amounts of rum, vodka and orgeat syrup. Now that's the kind of smoothie I imagine our Lush might go for.

Ginger?
Please be more specific. Stem Ginger? Root ginger? Geri Halliwell?
