Ginger?
Please be more specific. Stem Ginger? Root ginger? Geri Halliwell?
(Thoughts of Rooibosch.)

a small piece of root ginger to be exact. about the size of a marble for a litre.

stay well clear from ginger geri....i'd imagine she tastes rather unpleasant....

Making a smoothie seems like a lot of effort when one could simply eat a apple or banana or something like that. Don't you think???

Try:

frozen chunks of mango
frozen chunks of banana

top up with apple juice
put in as much yoghurt as you fancy

makes a very thick iced smoothie

works well with milk instead of apple juice

Dear NSC. I have an confession to make. I eat no fruit. None whatsoever. Not even cute little strawberries. It's not that I don't like the taste - I just find fruit incredibly HARD WORK.

However, I am now determined to eat more healthily. I have cut out pork pies and chocolate. I have also invested in a blender.

I would be grateful for any yummy tried and tested smoothie recipes.

Thank You.

This is yummy

Pork Pie and Chocolate Smoothie

Two buffet size pork pies
I bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk
Small pot of fresh single cream
1 large glass
2 gallon bucket

Chop the pork pies into 4cm cubes and place in blender.
Crumble chocolate into blender ... eat any bits that don't go in.
Pour in single cream.

Switch on blender on setting No 3 for 90 seconds.
Pour immediately into glass
Place bucket by side of kitchen worktop
Drink your smoothie immediately (can be chilled or warmed if preferred)
Place head over bucket

I have written them all down and named them...

"The D'Angelo Saxon" "The El-Presidente" "The Brightonb0y" etc.

It would make a great recipe book or cocktail list! The Northstandchat Bar anyone?

Only difficulty is with "The Afters" if you haven't eaten yet.....

hmmm - I must be odd - I can't stand banana's in smoothies icky yicky....

I can eat bananas all day till the cows come home but not in the blender....

Here's my choices:

The breakfast waker upper:
strawberries and rasberries, with about a cup of plain yoghurt and the same of skim milk...

The lunch filler upper:

nectarines, pasionfruits and pears with strawberries with strawberry yoghurt and skim milk

sometime for a change I chuck some vanilla nesquik in - but not good for those counting calories...

before going out smoothie:
small lime, ice cubes, frozen rasberries and strawberries, 1 -2 cups of orange juice and GIN !! blend well and enjoy :)
